# Connect Data Parrot to Cursor

Install the public Data Parrot plugin from GitHub and connect it to Cursor.

Last updated September 3, 2026

The Data Parrot plugin adds the hosted Data Parrot MCP Server to Cursor. You can ask about forecasts, pipeline changes, deals, sales activity, customer health, and win/loss. Data Parrot provides its analysis and supporting HubSpot information to Cursor.

The plugin is available now through its public GitHub repository.

## Before you connect

You need a HubSpot account, Data Parrot Pro or Max, Git, and Cursor. On a managed Cursor team, an admin may need to enable local plugin imports.

Data access and HubSpot permissions

Anyone with access to this MCP connection can access all Data Parrot data in the selected workspace, including all synced HubSpot data. Data Parrot cannot synchronize or enforce HubSpot per-user permissions in MCP.

Revenue data access is read-only. Data Parrot cannot edit HubSpot or Data Parrot revenue records. Connection setup may save a workspace choice or send an access request.

## Connect Data Parrot to Cursor

1. ### Install the plugin from GitHub

    Open a terminal and run:

    ```
    mkdir -p ~/.cursor/plugins/local
    git clone https://github.com/data-parrot/cursor-grok-bot-mcp.git ~/.cursor/plugins/local/data-parrot
    ```

2.  ### Reload Cursor

    Restart Cursor or run **Developer: Reload Window** from the Command Palette.

3.  ### Confirm the plugin

    Open **Customize**, then select **Plugins**. Confirm that the Data Parrot MCP server appears.

4.  ### Authenticate

    Start a conversation and ask a Data Parrot question. When Cursor asks you to authenticate, finish signing in to Data Parrot in your browser. If your account has access to more than one workspace, choose the one Cursor should use.

See the [public Data Parrot plugin repository](https://github.com/data-parrot/cursor-grok-bot-mcp) for the source and [Cursor's plugin documentation](https://cursor.com/docs/plugins) for current local plugin controls.

## Troubleshoot the plugin

| What you see | What to do |
| --- | --- |
| Cursor does not load the plugin | Confirm the repository is at ~/.cursor/plugins/local/data-parrot, then restart Cursor or run Developer: Reload Window. |
| Local plugin imports are disabled | Ask your Cursor team admin to enable local plugin imports. |
| Data Parrot appears more than once | Keep the GitHub plugin and remove the Data Parrot MCP connection you added manually. |
| Data Parrot asks you to request access | Send the access request. Data Parrot records it and attempts to notify the workspace admins. |
