Use Forecast Settings to configure how your team forecasts in Data Parrot. It controls two features: Forecast Status and Forecast Notes. In Settings, it's listed as Forecast.
Only Data Parrot Admins can open and change Forecast Settings. Forecast Settings is available on the Pro and Max plans.
Forecast Status
Forecast Status groups your deals by how likely they are to close. Your team can update it directly in Data Parrot wherever you view an open deal, including Forecast Workspace, Deals, AI Forecast and the deal page.
Choose where Forecast Status is managed
If HubSpot is connected, Forecast Status starts out using HubSpot's Forecast category property. To change it, choose one option, then select Save:
| Option | What it does |
|---|---|
| Use Data Parrot's forecast status | Manage your Forecast Status values directly in Data Parrot. |
| Use an existing HubSpot deal property | Use a HubSpot deal property for Forecast Status. Changes stay up to date in both HubSpot and Data Parrot. |
Data Parrot keeps the most recent setup for each option. If you switch to the other option and back, your earlier setup returns.
Switching doesn't copy values between the two options. If you switch back to Data Parrot's forecast status, the values your team set on deals with it return.
Use Data Parrot's forecast status
If you choose this option, Data Parrot starts you with three values: Commit, Best Case and Pipeline. You can add, rename, reorder and remove values, up to 100 in total. Each value needs a unique label, and you can add an optional description to explain what it means to your team.
You can also add an optional Field description for Forecast Status as a whole.
- Select Save on a value to save your changes to it.
- Removing or reordering a value saves right away.
- Renaming a value keeps it on every deal that already has it.
- If you remove a value, deals that already have it keep it, marked "No longer available".
- After you switch options, you can edit values once you've saved the switch.
Use an existing HubSpot deal property
Search for the HubSpot deal property you already use for forecasting, then select it. You can use HubSpot's Forecast category property or one of your custom HubSpot dropdown properties. Custom properties must be single-choice dropdowns and can't be hidden, calculated or read-only.
Its values are managed in HubSpot, and the list is marked "Managed in HubSpot". To change the list of values, edit the property in HubSpot.
If a property you selected is no longer available in HubSpot, a "Property unavailable" warning appears. Choose another property.
How Data Parrot interprets your values
Data Parrot matches each Forecast Status value to a standard meaning, such as Pipeline, Best Case, Most Likely or Commit. The "AI category" column shows each value's meaning and an explanation of why it was chosen. Your value names and deal assignments don't change.
These meanings decide which values Forecast Workspace includes in Selected by default: every value matched to Commit, Most Likely or Best Case.
When you save, Data Parrot matches any value you changed to a standard meaning again. Changing the Field description or switching options does this for every value. To run it again yourself, select Re-run AI classification. It's available once you've saved your changes.
Forecast Notes
Forecast Notes adds notes to deals. Each person has one current note per deal and can edit only their own. The team can see every note and its version history. Forecast Notes stay in Data Parrot and don't save to HubSpot.
Forecast Notes is on by default. To hide Forecast Notes on deals, turn off the Forecast Notes switch, then select Save notes. Existing notes and history are kept, and they return when you turn it on again.
"Sync Forecast Notes to HubSpot" is marked "Coming soon" and can't be turned on yet.
Save your changes
Each part of the page has its own save button, such as Save for Forecast Status and Save notes for Forecast Notes. You can also press Cmd+S (Ctrl+S on Windows) to save everything.
If you go to another page with unsaved changes, Data Parrot asks what to do: Keep editing, Discard & leave or Save & leave. If you close or reload the browser tab, your browser asks instead.
